The City has contracted with Oakland County to provide assessing services. Under terms of the contract, Oakland County Equalization performs the following functions:
- Assesses annually real and personal property
- Prepares annual assessment role
- Attends Boards of Review
- Consults on Michigan Tax Tribunal appeals
The City continues to maintain staff at City Hall to provide personalized assistance to residents and businesses, including:
- Answering taxpayer questions
- Accessing and providing information related to the assessing role
- Providing and accepting Property Transfer Affidavits, Principal Residence Exemptions and Request to Rescinds,
- Providing copies of records, sketches, and photos
- Maintaining Sales Records
- Coordinating Board of Review appointments
All questions related to assessing should be addressed to the City’s Administrative Specialists. The Administrative Specialists will answer questions or coordinate with the County as appropriate.

The City of Farmington Board of Review will meet in the City’s council chambers, 23600 Liberty St, Farmington, Michigan, on the following date to correct clerical errors and review hardship appeals.
Tuesday, July 18, 2017
9 am until work is complete.
Any Taxpayer wishing to file a hardship appeal, that hasn’t already appealed hardship to the December Board, may pick up an application at the City Hall (Treasurer or Assessing Departments) or by calling Oakland County Equalization Division, at (248) 858-1666. Appointments for hardship appeals will be scheduled prior to the Board of Review.
