Dog Licenses are available at Farmington City Hall, 23600 Liberty Street, Farmington, Michigan, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Licenses can also be obtained on-line at www.oakgov.com/petadoption/Pages/licenses.aspx or by MAIL by calling 248-474-5500.
In order to obtain a license, you must have a current, original Certification of Vaccination for rabies signed by an accredited veterinarian.
From January 1st until May 31st, the price for a dog license is $7.50 for a dog that has been spayed/neutered and $15.00 for a dog that has NOT been spayed/neutered. Senior Citizens age 65 and up are eligible for a discount.
Beginning June 1st, people who have not purchased a current year dog license are considered delinquent and the cost for a license increases to $30.00. These fees are set by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
Pets need to be licensed because:
- It’s the law since 1919
- Licensed pets have a better chance of being found
- It proves ownership
- Fees support Oakland County Pet Adoption Center
