2010 Accomplishments

  • There were no fire or crime related deaths.
  • No public safety personnel were injured or killed in police or fire activities.
  • Serious “Group A” crime decreased 1.7% in 2010. This decrease follows a significant 3.6% drop in 2009 crime.
  • Seventy-six (76) fewer “Group A” crimes occurred in 2010, compared to 2004. This is a fourteen percent (-14%) reduction in seven (7) years.
  • Total burglaries remained the same in 2010 (29) as in 2009 (29).
  • There were no armed robberies in 2010.
  • The public safety department recorded two hundred eighty-four (284) property damage accidents in 2010, forty-nine (49) fewer than in 2009.
  • The public safety department was awarded a grant from the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant program to cover ninety-five percent (95%) of the cost of a new fire truck.
  • The public safety department conducted its first of many Apartment Watch meetings. In addition, thousands of apartment patrols were conducted and numerous crimes were interrupted.
