Dog Licenses

Dog Licenses are available for purchase at the Treasurer's Counter at Farmington City Hall, 23600 Liberty Street, Farmington, Michigan, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit/debit card. There is a fee for payment by credit/debit card.

In order to obtain a license, you must have a current, original Certification of Vaccination for rabies signed by an accredited veterinarian.

Dog Licenses can be renewed each year from January 1 until May 31.

Beginning June 1, people who have not purchased a current year dog license are considered delinquent.

Pets need to be licensed because:

  • It’s been the law since 1919
  • Licensed pets have a better chance of being found
  • It proves ownership
  • Fees support Oakland County Pet Adoption Center
