Press Release

May Porch Party at the Governor Warner Mansion

Release date: 4/15/2011

The Governor Warner Mansion is holding its first porch party of the season on Thursday, May 12, 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Families are invited to come and enjoy this “turn-of-the-century” event featuring a local barbershop quartet and a dinner that includes a hot dog, chips, a drink and dessert. Ticket prices are $5 per person for ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 8 are free.

In addition to the barbershop quartet, guests will enjoy playing Victorian games such as badminton, croquet, and horse shoes, or even try to roll a large wood hoop across the Mansion lawn. Board games on the Mansion porch will also be available.

Thayer Rock Funeral Home in downtown Farmington has generously offered to sponsor this event. Proceeds from the porch party will be used for maintenance and upkeep of the Mansion.

The Governor Warner Mansion will host four porch parties this season as one more way to bring our community together. This is an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Mansion grounds in a relaxed and friendly environment. We invite you to come out and help support our Mansion…Farmington’s own historic treasure. Remaining porch parties will be held on the second Thursday during the months of June, July, and August, 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
