Become a Tornado Spotter!

Oakland County Homeland Security Division has opened registration for their Skywarn 2020 spotter training.  Skywarn is an effort to save lives during severe weather emergencies by expanding networks of spotters and by encouraging the widest possible participation in tornado warning programs.  There is no way to stop tornadoes and not all show up on radar, but they can be seen.  The human eye is the only instrument that can detect a tornado or funnel with complete certainty, which can save lives.

Training sessions are held at various locations throughout Oakland County throughout March.  The sessions last 1.5 hours and are FREE, but you must register due to limited space.  All interested parties are encouraged to attend.  Please click here for more information on Skywarn training and how to register.
