City of Farmington 2023 Road Rehabilitation Program Start of Construction Notice

On Thursday, October 19, 2023, construction activities will commence for the 2023 Road Rehabilitation Program. Minor storm sewer replacement work on Alta Loma is the first anticipated operation to take place. This project includes asphalt pavement rehabilitation, ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades, and minor storm sewer improvements on the following streets: Alta Loma (between Gill and Cass streets), Wilmarth (asphalt portion just north of Alta Loma only), and Cass Street (Alta Loma to Fleming). Additionally, storm sewer infrastructure improvements will be made along Fleming in the Moore and Cass street intersections only.

Please be advised that while storm sewer work is being completed on Alta Loma, we anticipate temporary closures on sections of Alta Loma. Residents will always have access to/from their homes during this; however, alternate routes (utilizing other surrounding streets) may be necessary to access Alta Loma. When it comes time for road milling and asphalt paving, all residents in the affected areas will be noticed once again. Please be advised that you will not be able to access your residence the day(s) paving is scheduled on your road to allow for the pavement to properly cool. The specific date(s) for paving are unknown at this time though you will be notified as far in advance of paving as possible once it is scheduled.

For residents who live in the Gill Road, Wilmarth Avene, and Cass Street intersections along Alta Loma - if you have irrigation systems, please identify and mark any and all sprinkler heads or other irrigation-related devices in your front yards – particularly those devices close to the sidewalk and/or within the public right-of-way prior to the start of construction as sidewalk ramp upgrades are proposed in these areas. Flags or small stakes work best though any marking which easily identifies the location(s) is much appreciated.

Please keep children away from the equipment, removals, mass grading, underground utility installation, hot/fresh asphalt, and wet concrete. If you have any specific questions regarding the project, such as scheduling, parking, or access, please call the City Public Works Department at (248) 473-7250, Mr. Mike McNutt, Engineer for OHM at (313) 516-4735, or Mr. Austin Downie, Engineer for OHM at (734) 466-4437. Updated information will be handed out and attached to your front door, posted on the City website, and/or posted on the City’s Facebook page as necessary.
