Farmington Public Safety Department Achieves Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police Re-Accreditation

The Farmington Public Safety Department is proud to announce that they have been re-accredited by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP).  Farmington’s approval was granted following a commission hearing on June 28th at the annual summer MACP conference.  Commission members recognized the department's Blue Card Program and Apartment Watch Program among other community initiatives.
Accreditation is a progressive and time-proven way of helping law enforcement agencies calculate and improve their overall performances. The foundation of accreditation lies in the voluntary adoption of standards containing a clear statement of professional objectives. Participating agencies conduct a thorough self-analysis to determine which of their existing operations already meet some of the standards and/or how the procedures can be adapted to meet the standards and professional objectives. When the procedures are in place, a team of trained Commission assessors verifies that applicable standards have been successfully implemented and the agency is in compliance.  There are currently 108 standards.

We are committed to the accreditation process for the next three years and beyond because it makes us a better organization and helps us meet or exceed the expectations of the Farmington community,” stated Public Safety Director Ted Warthman. 
MACP Accreditation is a tri-annual process with the Farmington Public Safety Department next up for review in 2024.
