Farmington seeks members for new Innovation, Energy and Environmental Sustainability Committee

The City of Farmington has joined with Farmington Hills to form a new committee to enhance support for environmental sustainability – the Innovation, Energy and Environmental Sustainability Committee (IEESC). The City of Farmington is looking for two members to serve on this 11-member committee.

The committee’s mission is to enhance support for environmental sustainability efforts and explore opportunities that will benefit the entire Farmington Hills/Farmington community. The new committee will research, study, and report to the mayor and city council on innovative programs that promote environmental sustainability. They will also seek out potential public/private partnerships and possible sources of funding.

The IEESC will consist of residents, representatives of local businesses, an environmentalist, a utility company representative, a member of the City’s Economic Development Corporation, and a student representative. The committee will also have three alternate members. The IEESC will convene after at least five members have been appointed and approved. The group will meet according to a schedule determined by members.
