U.S. Census Bureau Extends Deadline to October 31
The deadline to fill out the 2020 United States Census has been moved to the end of October due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Getting an accurate Census count has a huge impact on every community. Census data determines how more than $675 billion of federal funds are spent, which goes to support vital community programs. In 2016, Michigan received $29 billion through 55 federal spending programs guided by data derived from the 2010 Census.
Michigan, when compared to other states, currently ranks third in the nation for the Census response rate so far, but we still have a long way to go. For every resident not counted, Michigan stands to lose an estimated $3,000 per person per year in federal funds, and that adds up quickly.
Please fill out the Census if you haven’t already done so. If you have filled it out, please encourage your family and friends to take ten minutes and fill out their Census.
If you did not receive your nine-question Census form in the mail, you can go online and fill it out at http://www.my2020census.gov
